Connecticut public jobs need a daily sign-in record from October 1, 2026

A new state law makes every contractor and subcontractor on a prevailing-wage project keep a daily record of who was on site, with arrival and departure times, and send those records to the contracting agency every week. Here is a free sheet that has every field the law asks for.

Who

Every employer on a project covered by C.G.S. 31-53 (public works of $1,000,000 or more new, $100,000 or more renovation), 31-53c (DECD-funded), 31-53d(f) (renewable energy) or 31-54 (state highways). General contractors and subs alike.

What

Each day: project name and location, the date, each worker's printed name or signature, trade license number where one applies, and arrival and departure time.

Then

Keep the records and submit them weekly to the contracting agency by mail, email or another method it accepts. Failure to file is a class C misdemeanor: a fine of up to $500, up to three months, or both.

"Each employer ... shall complete a daily record of each person performing the work of any mechanic, laborer or worker at a work site."

Coming in mid-October: no clipboard, no scanning, no Friday scramble

Rhode Island

Rhode Island already requires a certified prevailing-wage daily log, kept on site, on public works contracts of $1,000,000 or more (R.I. Gen. Laws 37-13-13; road, highway and bridge work excepted). It has to be on the Department of Labor and Training form, so use the official one: DLT prevailing wage forms (Certified Prevailing Wage Daily Log, revised January 1, 2026).
